| The Dessert Plate, a contemporary bakery in Somerville, NJ, held it’s 6th Annual “Baked From Scratch” baking contest to honor the tradition of home baked desserts this past Saturday April, 26th. This year there was a TIE! First Place Ribbons went to Andrea Ferrone of Flemington for her “Riccota and Anise Cookies” and to Nancy Ingram of Bridgewater for her “Chocolate Cheese Cake”. |

Family favorites,...Grandma’s special recipe... Dad’s traditional gooey concoction... wholesome treats.... Mom’s holiday cake... From generation to generation our favorite foods define the traditions that shape our holidays, our special occasions, and our everyday. Each year, The Dessert Plate celebrates the tradition of Scratch Baking and honors the bakers that take the time to make our special favorites. “This year we had a tough time picking a winner - all the entries tasted so wonderful”, said The Dessert Plate’s owner Megyn Craine. “Every year we are honored to taste everyone’s desserts and we’re especially grateful for what we know is a time consuming effort.” “When simple ingredients come together with a little tradition, you’ll get a great dessert every time! We look forward to this contest all year long.” Come and taste the winning entries! The Dessert Plate will offer Andrea Ferrone’s Ricotta and Anise Cookies” and “Nancy Ingram’s Chocolate Cheese Cake” for sale for the month of May. 50% of the Sale Price of each will be donated to The Somerset County Regional Animal Shelter.
